Colony House presents a feel-good vibe behind their bright indie rock sound

Colony House, the Tennessee based indie rock’ n’ roll band reminded fans of what a real rock show was at Cat’s Cradle in Carrboro, N.C. Despite not headlining (Colony House left those honors to The Mowglis) they brought the party and the feel-good vibes of a headline show.

Opening with the brand new song, “Cannot Do This Alone,” from the band’s upcoming sophomore record Only The Lonely, Colony House gave it their all with their 45 minute set; cracking jokes of when they performed Cat’s Cradle a couple years ago, but in the ‘other’ room, the back room of the club. They reminisced and thanked the few hundred fans that were there for spending their money to come see them.

It isn’t a traditional rock show without an acoustic song sung by the lead singer, right? That’s exactly what leader of Colony House, Caleb Chapman, son of legendary singer-songwriter, Steven Curtis Chapman, did. Caleb, a spitting image of his father, stood front and center behind the microphone and stripped down “Moving Forward” to simply acoustics.

The rest of the band, Scottie Mills, Parke Cottell, and little brother Will Chapman later joined the front man and blessed the fans with sweet harmonies and a reminder to stay alive.

After touring with Needtobreathe on both legs of their Tour De Compadres, fans have begun to liven up to Colony House, night after night in front of tens of thousands of people. You can tell Colony House has been majorly influenced by the big names in the business; everything from how they interact with the crowd to climbing on top of boxes above the fans to laughing at themselves and each other on stage. Simply put, they remind the fans that life is short and to have fun while you can - hang with people that will bring out the good in you.
