Every now and then, a band will emerge and strike, grabbing the listener’s attention from the moment they pressed play. With the release of In Our Bones, Against The Current cemented themselves as one of the up-and-coming bands of this half decade.

Against The Current’s debut album leads off with “Running With The Wild Things” which is upbeat and immediately defines the bands genre. The Poughkeepsie trio embrace their sound and possess a superb ability to create catchy and tunes while overlaying them with sing-along verses from Chrissy Costanza.

We’ve been a band for about five years now so finally being at this point where we’re actually releasing our full album is kinda crazy. It’s also kind of a unique situation for us because we have established so much. The debut album is the start but we had all this set up beforehand.

The middle of the album slows down and takes a few risks outside the LP’s general pop flow. “In Our Bones” highlights Against The Current’s first ever recorded acoustic song in which the band described in an interview with Fuse as an attempt to sprinkle the album with a bit of diversity.

In Our Bones pace picks back up with “Runaway” at No. 7 and finishes off without the sense of filler tracks. For a true debut album, Against The Current sets the bar high for themselves, however from what they’ve shown with In Our Bones, they’re certainly prepared to live up to the hype down the road.
