Vance Joy, the singer-songwriter behind the smash hits “Riptide” and “Mess Is Mine,” is currently touring throughout the U.S. on his Nation of Two World Tour. Named after his sophomore record Nation of Two, which released in February, the trek marks the first time Vance Joy has toured in two years. If that seems like a long time, it’s been even longer since he’s visited North Carolina. Here are 3 reasons to catch Vance Joy on his stop in Charlotte, this Friday.
His first headline show in the Queen City
It’s pretty surprising that considering how much of a household name Vance Joy is in the realm radio airplay, that Charlotte hasn’t had a chance to see him as the superstar that he presently is. Then again, perhaps that makes his only visit to the Queen City all the more special for those that caught it. Vance Joy’s headline show in Charlotte, Friday, will mark the first time he’s visited the city since he opened for Taylor Swift in 2015 on the 1989 World Tour. At the time, Vance Joy’s stage time was short and sweet. You heard “Georgia” and “Riptide,” but that’s it, hardly enough of the singer-songwriter. Also, let it sink in that three years has passed since he stopped last. If history tells us anything, it’s that if you miss him this time around, you may wait over 1,000 days for another chance to see him in your area.
Listen to “Riptide” under the glowing skyline
What better way to kick off summer than relaxing under Charlotte’s clear skies and glowing skyline with a brew in hand. More specifically, what better way to kick off summer than all of the above with Vance Joy and “Riptide,” a song you’ve likely jammed to at least a dozen times over the last three years. The single that put the Aussie on the map was certified quadruple Platinum last year. His music lends itself so well to live shows and summer nights, that it almost feels as if it was created for such purposes. Charlotte’s endured its fair share of crummy weather over the last few weeks, but there’s not a single cloud in the forecast for Friday night. By the time Vance Joy walks onto stage, the sun will have set, the city lights will have turned on and the temperature will drop to an ideal 80 degrees. If that sounds magical, it’s because it is.
Hear his brand new record Nation Of Two live for the first time
In his return to Charlotte, Vance Joy is bringing a loaded arsenal of music. On top of the heralded Dream Your Life Away, his debut album, Vance Joy is now showcasing his follow-up effort Nation Of Two. The record is less than three months old and the artist has only been on the road for a few weeks. By the time he arrives in Charlotte, Vance Joy will have already worked out the live kinks in the tour’s first shows. Therefore, Charlotte will get the best the artist has the offer. We Plug Good Music applauded Vance Joy’s show at the O2 Academy Brixton a month ago saying, “Joy by name Joy by nature, the whole production from stage, set list and lighting oozed class, charisma and charm.”
