Gorillaz are back! After six years of downtime, the first “virtual hip-hop group” show face again (okay… not really) with four brand new tracks - “Saturnz Barz,” “Andromeda,” “We’ve Got The Power” and “Ascension” - taken from their upcoming release, Humanz.
The band has teased their return to music for awhile now, but the date is now official - April 28.
The upcoming album features a slew of noteworthy guest appearances including Danny Brown, Benjamin Clementine, De La Soul, D.R.A.M., Peven Everett, Anthony Hamilton, Grace Jones, Zebra Katz, Kelela, Mavis Staples, Vince Staples, Popcaan, Pusha T, Jamie Principle and Kali Uchis.
In addition to the new music, Gorillaz released four new videos which includes a 360 degree video for “Saturnz Barz”. The video also supports virtual reality and an interactive VR video will be released an April per release.
When Gorillaz broke onto the scene during the last decade, they revolutionized the music scene and were undeniably unique with their digital presentation. In hindsight, it’s safe to say the band went away to regroup and re-revolution a scene they created.
