Demi Lovato opens up on decision to cancel North Carolina shows

The upcoming summer seemed perfect for North Carolinian concert goers with the plethora of newsworthy acts invading the southeast. However, as June neared, many musicians including Demi Lovato and Nick Jones cancelled their shows in North Carolina in attempt to take a stand against the HB2 law (better known as the “bathroom bill” amongst the community).

Recently, Demi Lovato discussed the decision to cancel the shows and why standing up against the law is so important to her. According to the Atlanta Journal Constitution, Lovato mentioned the following:

Well, for me, I’ve always been kind of an outsider when I lived in Texas. I never fit in and I didn’t agree with a lot of the opinions down in the South, and when I got out to California, I just saw a whole new world and I thought, I have no idea why this isn’t like the rest of the United States and the rest of the world, to be honest. So, I’m just standing up for what’s right.
