Explosive.
The nine letter word perfectly sums up I Prevail’s rise to prominence in the post-hardcore genre. The Michigan natives gathered in late 2013 and within a year the four-piece band created a name for themselves. After collecting over two millions views on YouTube with their cover of Taylor Swift’s “Blank Space,” I Prevail attracted the attention of Billboard’s Hot 100 and broke into the coveted rankings.
Brian Burkheiser opened up on the band’s explosive launch into the music scene in an interview with Rock Revolt Magazine:
It’s actually how I Prevail formed… It was kind of funny because we just kind of came out of nowhere. We finished writing our EP, and we found the Taylor Swift song and launched with that, and the EP came out afterwards. Ever since then it’s been crazy, but great!
Their debut EP, Heart Vs. Mind, garnered significant success and set I Prevail up for potential unprecedented success with their upcoming debut record, Lifelines. With the record scheduled to release October 20, I Prevail’s headlining tour gives fans an opportunity to peep new, relatively unheard music off a highly anticipated album.
Acclaimed tracks like the soaring single “Scars” and “My Heart I Surrender” further highlight an explosive set that’s sure to rock Charlotte’s newest venue, The Underground. Paired with The White Noise, My Enemies and I and Carolina Rebellion vets Bad Seed Rising, the “Strike The Match Tour” is certainly a must-see event in the Queen City Thursday, August 11.
