Of Mice & Men expose The Defy Tour in Charlotte

In under a week, metalcore foursome Of Mice & Men will arrive in Charlotte along with Blessthefall, Cane Hill, Fire From The Gods, and MSCW on the headlining band’s ‘Defy’ tour.

It wasn’t too long ago Of Mice & Men graced the main stage at Carolina Rebellion, the Southeast’s largest and loudest rock festival, conveniently located just outside Charlotte. At that time, the band was simply building excitement for its fifth studio album Defy - the first without longtime unclean vocalist Austin Carlisle who departed the band in late 2016. Of Mice & Men had released one single, “Unbreakable,” ahead of their mid-afternoon set at Carolina Rebellion. However this time around, Of Mice & Men have the entirety of Defy at its fingertips.

With bassist Aaron Pauley stepping up and delivering the unclean vocals, Defy delivers the sound we’ve come to expect from Of Mice & Men.

Pauley spoke on the band’s title track before the album’s release:

“To defy means to challenge the power of; resist boldly or openly,” Pauley said. “Our song ‘Defy’ is all about digging your heels in, and being defiant towards feelings of hopelessness, and defining yourself in the process.”

Bolstered with powerful hooks and catchy melodies, the record further defines Of Mice & Men as a band that’s solidified themselves amongst metalcore’s most known. While the album offers plenty of head banging and mosh worthy jams, there’s also a pit worthy cover of Pink Floyd’s “Money” that’s likely to be unveiled live. No spoilers here.

All tickets for the tour, including Feb. 20 at The Underground, are available here.
