LP is on her seventh record deal and the fourth with a major label. She’s plenty talented and has the history to show for it. Through the early 2000’s, she made a name for herself as a songwriter, receiving credits on releases from the Backstreet Boys, Christina Aguilera, Cher, Rita Ora, The Veronicas and Leona Lewis. LP even co-wrote Rihanna’s hit radio single “Cheers (Drink to That).”

In an interview with the Salt Lake Tribune last year, LP said that those songwriting opportunities kept her in music.

“I figured [songwriting] was more up to me. There was a little more control than you have as an artist. ‘Cause you don’t know as an artist, man,” she told the Salt Lake Tribune. “I’ve seen brilliantly talented, beautiful, young people never make a dent, that I thought were gonna go all the way. And I’ve seen people that I didn’t think anything of — nothing bad, just OK — just go all the way. You never know. But as a songwriter, that’s a lucky thing too, to get a song cut on anything these days, it’s a competition, but I felt a little more in control of my destiny when I started writing songs for others as well.”

Fast forward to now, it’s safe to assume now that LP has finally found her footing as a solo artist. She’s an indie heart throb with vocals that will sweep you off your feet and she possesses a spirit on stage that will touch your emotions. Her 2017 full-release Lost On You commanded massive praise, including platinum certifications, and album singles “Lost On You” and “Muddy Waters” have only bolstered her career. Filled with giant choruses and moody melodies, the album translates well to live performance and LP has no issues showcasing just what makes her unique. In fact, Charlotte is already familiar with the singer/songwriter.

Since Lost On You‘s release, LP has toured the globe and her visit to Charlotte, Thursday night, won’t be the first. LP stopped by the Queen City last May for a show at the Visulite and evidently, its walls weren’t big enough. This time around, she is performing at the NC Music Factory’s newly renovated venue, The Underground.

Tickets are available here, in addition to other dates on LP’s U.S. tour.
