What is it with the bands that swap letters in their name with “v” – Chvrches, Alvvays? They’re all top-tier. This includes Pvris (pronounced “Paris”) who’s visiting Charlotte this weekend after dropping their sophomore album All We Know of Heaven, All We Need of Hell (AWKOHAWNOH) a few weeks ago.
Led by singer-guitarist Lynn Gunn, the Massachusetts alt-rockers aren’t just a blip on the radar with a unique name. The band’s debut album White Noise, released in 2014, caught attention and received universal acclaim. The trio was thrusted into the spotlight, but instead of banking on their breakout success, Pvris went back to the studio and methodically approached their second release. Thus we have AWKOHAWNOH.
Pvris shines bright with gloomy, yet gorgeous textures on AWKOHAWNOH. The album accentuates the band’s true growth and no two songs in the catalog sound the same. Shile some tracks explode with a pop-infused vibe that’s bound to set off a room, others hum with deep, personal emotions. Pvris is out to further cement their name in hearts of alt-rock lovers and the Rock Me UP! playlists!
Pvris will also be donating a portion of ticket sales to The Ally Coalition in support of LGBTQ equality.
“We’re delighted to be working with The Ally Coalition,” vocalist Lynn Gunn says. “The promotion of equal rights for the LGBTQ community is very important to our band and fan base. We thank everyone who chooses to purchase a ticket and join us in supporting the cause. Looking forward to seeing all of you this fall.”
Pvris last toured with Thirty Seconds To Mars and Muse in the summer, but missed the stop in Charlotte at the PNC Music Pavilion. They’ll play at 8:00 p.m. Saturday the The Fillmore Charlotte along with Lights and Party Nails! To purchase tickets, click here.
