There’s few generations that haven’t grown up with Train. The San Francisco natives boomed at the turn of the century and have seamlessly managed to stay relevant and infect a new wave of listeners time after time. From “Drops of Jupiter” to the renowned “Hey, Soul Sister,” Train has it all, including their most recent 10th studio album a girl a bottle a boat.
Yet what’s even more impressive is Train’s stable clout in a pop universe dominate by the youth.
“We’ve been around too long. We’re old and we’re old school or they want to make room for the kids that are coming up,”Pat Monahan told the Herald-Tribune. “So for them to play Train, for a pop station to play Train, we have to have real serious heat.”
They do have some real serious heat. The band’s lead single, “Play That Song,” off a girl a bottle a boat has already secured certified RIAA Gold certification in the United States and claimed ARIA Platinum certification in Australia. There’s few listeners that don’t have at least one Train song saved in their road trip playlist, especially those in the Bay Area.
Now on the road showing off the new album, Train is rolling city to city transporting fans to the golden coast with their California melodies. Along with O.A.R. and Natasha Bedingfield, Train stop by the PNC Music Pavilion in Charlotte, N.C. on June 3. Tickets can be purchased here.
